St Laurence Church Junior School Sports Events 2023-24
The pupils at St Laurence Church Junior School have already started their sporting event this year with a tag-rugby festival and many more events lined up for this half term - including a swimming gala!
We hope to enter many competitive and non-competitive competitions in a range of sports to offer a rich choice and experience to our pupils in order to inspire them to lead active healthy lives. Here are the events lined up so far.
Tuesday 19th September - Year 5/6 Tag-rugby Festival

Tuesday 26th September - Y3/4 Basketball Festival
Our basketball team had a great time playing as a team and playing against seven different schools.
Saturday 30th September - Y5/6 Swimming Gala
Our Year 5 and Year 6 team represented us extremely well achieving second place in the swimming gala held at Abbey Stadium! All children in the team received a medal and demonstrated a fantastic sports attitude towards each other and the competing schools.
Tuesday 3rd October - Y5/6 Basketball Competition
Amazing team effort in the basketball competition. Well done and well played!
Tuesday 10th October - Mixed Tenpin Bowling Competition
A super fun morning spent at Acocks Green Bowling representing our school and competing against other schools. Well done to all those who took part!
Tuesday 10th October - Y5/6 Tag-rugby League Games
Over two weeks our tag-rugby team went to play competitively in tag-rugby league games. Although we did not win over all, our team showed determination and great team work whilst improving upon their skills after each game! Well done to all who took part across both evenings!

Wednesday 22nd November - Year 6 Girls' Netball
Our team played well against Cotteridge. A tough first game of the season but a great team effort was shown by all the girls!
Wednesday 22nd November - Year 5 and Year 6 KAB Fest
Here our Year 5 and 6 children took part in curling, archery and boccia. They all had a great time and enjoyed trying some new sports!
Thursday 23rd November - Year 5 and Year 6 Girls' Netball
The girls played extremely well today against the Meadows. They played as a team and won as a team. Well done to all who took part.
Monday 27th November - KS2 Panathlon
Today children travelled on the train to The University of Birmingham to take part in the Panathlon. This is an event run where children get to take part and try a range of games and activities. Fun was had by everyone and everyone got to try something new!

Our Dance team danced with enthusiasm as they represented the school in the KS2 Dance Competition performing a dance they had practised in their weekly dance lessons help every Tuesday at school. Well done team!

Friday 1st Match - Year 5 and Year 6 Indoor Athletics
A great event full of many events such as relay racing, obstacle races as well as throwing and jumping events. Our Year 5 and Year 6 children did us proud and represented St Laurence well! Well done to all those who took part!
Monday 4th March - Year 5 and Year 6 Table Tennis
The team took part in a table tennis tournament against Servern Primary school. Some fantastic rallies were seen in both singles and doubles. Well done!

Wow! A great performance by our Year 3 and Year 4 girls' football team today who progressed through to finals night which will be held after Easter!

This academic year the pupils at St Laurence Church Junior School have already been busy taking part in a variety of sports events and fixtures. We are in several knock out tournaments including the H.M.S Birmingham Shield Competition which is held across schools in Birmingham. We have entered a variety of events both non-competitive and competitive to give our pupils the rich and diverse experiences they need in order to inspire them to lead active healthy lifestyles.
