Head's Welcome

On behalf of pupils, parents, staff and governors I would like to extend a warm welcome to

St Laurence Church Junior School.

We believe the years spent in primary education are the most valuable in terms of the development of skills, acquiring the right attitudes towards learning, becoming independent, self-disciplined and self-motivated learners and, most importantly, maintaining and building self-esteem in order to be successful.

It is our aim to ensure that your child achieves all of these through the provision of a caring Christian environment which is safe, warm, and secure and, has access to a broad and balanced curriculum, along with many stimulating and interesting opportunities for your child to develop as an individual. By doing this we ensure that by the time our pupils leave us at the age of eleven they will have the confidence to move on to the next phase of their education; knowing that God loves them and with a good idea about what they enjoy, what their strengths are and when and how to ask for help.

This website and our prospectus is merely the starting point. They contain information you may find useful, but personal contact with staff is very important to enable our shared responsibility for the children to be most effective.

The Infant School and you, the parents, have been your child’s first and most significant educators, and it is now of paramount importance that we form a partnership to continue and develop those beginnings. For your child to get the most out of school we need, and most importantly your child needs, you to support the school’s values and procedures. Communication, understanding, encouragement and involvement are crucial for this partnership to be successful.

I, and all my staff, look forward to getting to know you and to working with you whilst at the same time helping your child reach their potential in order to live a full and happy life.

I look forward to meeting you and sharing this exciting next phase with you and your child.
